Late Spring and Early Summer Flowers to Spot on your Walk

Late spring and early summer is a great time to explore the countryside. There are many beautiful wildflowers to see at this time of the year. Of course despite the fact that it is summer it is always best to be prepared for changes in  the weather – waterproofs and warm clothing like this women’s irish sweater shamrockgift.com are a must!

Here are some of the flowers to look out for…

Ox eye Daisies – This summer favourite can often be found in wildflower meadows, along hedgerows and in grasslands. The large heads make them easy to identify, and the brightness of them can often make them appear bright even by moonlight, which is why they are also known as moon daisies.

Foxgloves – A favourite with bees, the beautiful tall pink spires look striking amongst the trees of the shady woodland that this beautiful plant calls home.

Birds Foot Trefoil – This pretty yellow flower is actually a member of the pea family! It grows low to the ground and can be found in any place that there is grass, from the garden to the fields.

Red Campion – The red campion often appears around the same time as the bluebells but stays in bloom for longer. Pollinating insects are all attracted to the flowers, and it is said to protect fairies from being found!

Cow Parsley – A wander around the country lanes and the hedgerows in early summer is full of the beautiful white flowers of this favourite countryside plant. Masses of the plants clustered together look like a foamy floral display.
