Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker – On the days when it is not great weather, this is a great place to go, as it is all indoors. This unique and fascinating place is an actual cold war era nuclear bunker which has been turned into a museum, documenting the cold war, and giving the public a look at the plans that were in place for a nuclear attack on Britain.
It is a great place for all ages, with younger ones being able to enjoy the spy mice trail, and many fascinating exhibits to see and experience. These include equipment from bunkers around the UK, as well as a room where you can experience how it would feel to be in a nuclear attack. For a day out with a difference, as well as being educational this is a really good place to go.
Gulliver’s World – If it is fun and excitement that you and the family are after, this is the place to go. Located in Warrington, this has something for the whole family. Little ones will love Bing and Flop, as well as the clangers who are appearing throughout the summer holidays, and as well as the traditional fairground rides like the dodgems and carousel, as well as the dinosaur themed lost world for older kids to keep them excited all day.
Beeston Castle – This stunning castle dates back to around 1220, so has a lot of history to explore, including the most famous legend that the castle is guarding treasure buried there by King Richard II. As well as the castle itself, visitors can explore the beautiful gardens and woodland surrounding it, and follow the nature trails.
