Coming to Terms with Male Pattern Hair Loss

Something that many men struggle with as they get older is the prospect of one day losing their hair. For some men, this is not a problem to them, and they happily embrace the bald headed, action movie star look. For others they look for ways to keep hold of a head of hair and look into things like His Hair Clinic for scalp micropigmentation, or a full hair transplant.

Going bald is not something to worry about from a health perspective, however. It is a genetic condition so it is something that runs in families, so if the older men in the family are bald, the chances are that you also will be.

Male pattern baldness is the main cause of baldness in males and is caused by a sensitivity to a by-product of the male hormone testosterone – this means the hormone damages the hair follicles and they react by slowly shrinking until they do not work any longer and the hair dies off.

There are often a few signs that this is happening to look out for – first the hairs may become shorter, lighter and finer, usually around the top of the head and the hairline. Then you may start to notice that the hair is thinner on the top and the head can be seen easily through the hair, as well as the fact the hairline at the front may be going back further!

The thing to remember, whether you decide to embrace the bald look or go for some hair restoring interventions is that you are far from alone!
